Once you have filed for unemployment and you claim has been approved, it is time for the real work to start. That is, finding a new job. The Washington’s Unemployment Insurance Agency provision of weekly unemployment benefits is only one of the tools available to you in your search for a new source of employment. Unfortunately, many unemployed workers spend months searching for work without making the most of the tools at their disposal. This article will introduce you to a tool that could change the way you view unemployment and improve you chances of finding meaningful work in an industry you are interested in. How? Through training and education. But, that costs money? Right? Yes it does, but one of the services that Washington’s UIA offers is access to Washington’s WorkSource offices. These offices are scattered throughout Washington and provide unemployed workers with job listings, job search databases, free access to computers and the internet, workshops for job hunters as well as training and education services to help you change careers or improve in your current one.
Although you can access many of the services offered by WorkSource online, we recommend you visit one of their offices personally and talk to a trained employment officer. They are trained to personalize the services available to your experience, background and interests. You never know, unemployment may end up being the best thing that happened you, if it allows you to start fresh in a job you enjoy. To help you access this valuable tool we have included a list of the WorkSource offices in Washington. Find the office closest to you and pay them a visit. It might be the first step you take towards a new career.
